Due to the numbers of plants we have available at present, you will only a be able to purchase a maximum quantity of 3 per size of each plant . If you require more than this, you should email us before placing an order, as we may be able to accommodate your requests. A few plants have a "Limited Stock" label next to them. This means that although the plants are available from us, there aren't many of them. If you place an order for such a plant and we have run out of them, we will of course refund the price of the out of stock item and recalculate the shipping for you.

You can order from The Palm House in several ways.

For your convenience, we have added a Shopping Cart to our website, which allows you to choose plants online and pay for them immediately by credit or debit card. Alternatively, you can use the shopping cart but choose to pay by other payment methods (see Payment). Click on the "add to cart" buttons next to the price tables on the plants' individual pages. Order Form by email or post
If you prefer not to use the Shopping Cart, we have an Order Form (in MS Word format) which you can download and fill in and either email it to us as an attachment, or print it out and send it to us RIGHT CLICK here to download the Order Form (choose "save target as..." in the menu to save the file to your PC).

Credit/Debit Cards
We accept most credit and debit cards (but not American Express). You can pay by card using the shopping cart. If you choose this method, your Browser will be redirected to the WorldPay (with whom we have our Merchant Account) website, where you are asked to provide your card details. WorldPay (part of the Royal Bank of Scotland) is a secure and extremely safe online payment system - just as secure as paying by card at the supermarket! You will see a small padlock icon appear at the bottom right of your browser when you are on a secure server. Click here if you would like more information about WorldPay.
You can also pay by credit or debit card over the phone. Let us know when we should call you to get your card details. Again, these details are passed securely to WorldPay for processing, and any details we hold about your cards is shreaded as soon as your payment is processed.

Cheques/Postal Orders/Bank Transfer
We also accept cheques (with card number on the back), postal orders and we are happy for you to do a direct bank transfer into our bank account if you'd prefer. This is often the best way for non-UK customers to pay.

PayPal is an online payment systems owned by the ebay group . You need to register with them in order to pay us using this method, and the transaction is made using your credit or debit card.

The shopping cart can be used for all payment methods - just choose your desired payment method when requested during the checkout process. If you choose a method other than credit or debit card, we'll get back to you with any extra information you'll need to make a payment.

Shipping & Delivery

Shipping costs are based on the weight of your order. If you use the Shopping Cart, it will automatically calculate the cost of shipping for you and will display the charge on the Shopping Cart page before you need to enter any personal details.

The shopping cart is for the use of Mainland UK customers only with the exception of those in the Scottish Highlands and Grampian as well as the Isle of Wight. We are happy to ship to these regions but a delivery surcharge will be applied. Please contact us directly for a quote before placing an order. .

Due to the high shipping costs associated with sending potted plants we have regrettably been forced to increase our shipping rates slightly. We are absorbing many of the costs of shipping larger plants to keep prices for you as customer as low as possible. The increase is only a modest one given the weight of many consignments we send out, and as always the rate per Kg decreases the more you buy. The best way to check what shipping charge an order will incur is simply to add the items to your cart. The shipping cost is calculated there and then, before you enter any personal information.

The minimum shipping charge is £7.00 (for UK Mainland).

Please contact us with any questions regarding shipping or shipping charges outside of UK Mainland (including Highlands, Grampian and Isle of Wight). We pack all our plants extremely carefully. If you have any questions regarding delivery or packing please contact us.

Once we have recieved your order you can usually expect to receive your plants within 5 working days of your payment clearing. We will advise you on delivery date once we have received your order. Most orders will require a signature but you can chose at the checkout to leave a special delivery instruction for our couriers who will be happy to oblige (e.g. "leave plants round the back, 3rd gate on the left"). However, leaving plants without a signature is entirely at your risk. We cannot accept any responsibility for mislaid plants which have been requested to be left without a signature.

We are sure that you will be delighted with the quality of the plants we send you. However, if you decide you do not want the plants we have sent, you should notify us in writing (email or letter), within 7 days of receiving your order. You can then return the plants to us for a refund of the cost of the order. Plants must be returned in the condition and packaged in the manner in which they were supplied, in order to qualify for such a refund. Due to the high cost of shipping, we are unable to refund shipping charges if the plants are not defective or not sent in error.
However, if the items we have sent you are defective or incorrect in anyway, you must notify us in writing (email or letter) within 7 days of receiving your order, and we will be happy to either substitute plants, or if this is not suitable, refund all charges, including shipping, on receipt of the incorrect plants. We will refund you in whatever method you used to pay us, and this will done within 7 days of us receiving the returned plants.
If your package is damaged upon receipt, you must notify us immediately and retain the damaged packaging, which will be needed as evidence when pursuing compensation. We cannot accept liability for delay or damage to the plants by influences beyond the carriers control.
The purchase of a plant, or placement of an order, implies acceptance of these terms.

Please don't be put off by the language of the statement above - we are legally obliged to provide this information, and in practice we are more than happy to discuss any problems you might have with the plants we have sent you :-)

The Shopping Cart is intended for the use of UK Mainland customers only. The shipping charges stated here are for UK Mainland customers only.
For shipping enquiries to mainland Europe please email us directly. All payments using Credit/Debit cards and Bank Transfers must be made in GBP (£).
How the Shopping Cart works...

The Shopping Cart is hosted on a different server to The Palm House website, and run by a company called Mal's E-Commerce, but it appears in the same window as all the other Palm House webpages.

You can view your Shopping Cart at any time by clicking on the "Shopping Cart" icon at the top right of all our pages.

The Shopping Cart is very self-explanatory, but if you would like some information on using it, please read below.

When moving around the website, click on the "add to cart" buttons next to the price tables on the plants' individual pages. You will then be taken to the Shopping Cart page which opens in within The Palm House window, with the links to our site still at the top of the page. Here you can change quantities (up to a max. of 3 per item). If you'd like to carry on shopping, you should leave the cart by clicking on the "continue shopping" button at the bottom of the page, which will take you back to the Palm or Other Exotics menu, depending on which category of plant you just added to the cart. The cart remembers what you've ordered, as you will see when you add another item to the cart. The Cart automatically calulates shipping charges based on weight.

When you're ready to send your order to us, you can click on the "Go to Payments" button in the Shopping Cart , which will take you to a page where you enter your address and other details. You will not be asked to enter any credit card details at this stage. When you have entered your details, click on the "Continue" button, and you will be asked how you would like to pay. If you choose to pay by credit/debit card you will be taken to WorldPay's server (see above). If you choose any of the other methods, we will receive your order and then send you an order confirmation, with any additional payment instructions. If you choose to pay by credit/debit card over the phone, you will be asked for a time and day when we should call you to take your card details.
